Kevin Koe is a Canadian curler who has two World Championships and four Canadian crowns to his name. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, he captained Canada’s men’s hockey team. He was born in Yellowknife, NWT, and now resides in Calgary, Alberta, where he curls at The Glencoe Club.
Early Life and Education
Kevin Koe was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on January 11, 1975. Koe was the oldest child born to his parents, Fred Koe and Lynda Koe.
Jamie Koe and Kerry Galusha are his twins. The Koe family is one of the native Aklavik people.

Kevin attended Sir John Franklin High School in Yellow Knife, where the Falcons Hall of Fame recognized him for his achievements.

He secured an excellent job with Talisman Energy after college, allowing him to migrate permanently to Alberta.

Junior Career
Before winning his first championship at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 1994, Koe competed in a number of junior men’s curling contests.
The following year, Koe advanced to the finals of the Alberta Junior Championships. Cameron Dechant, on the other hand, defeated him.
Senior Career
Koe won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in 2000, which marked the start of his senior curling career. He also triumphed in the Pointoptical Curling Classic that year.
Kevin won his first grand slam competition at the Players’ Championship in 2004. The group won both the Roaming Buffalo Classic in 2006 and the Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic in 2005.
Koe progressively pushed his way in to establish himself as a prospective curler for Canada. Kevin Martin, the current world champion in curling, eclipsed him, though.
Koe has won numerous curling tournaments, but he needed to win a provincial championship to gain attention.
He nearly won the provincial championship in 2007, but Kevin Martin upset him.
Winning Provincial Championship
Koe ultimately succeeded on a local level in 2009. Kevin Martin was preoccupied with getting ready for the 2010 Winter Olympics during this time, giving Koe the opportunity to shine.
After that, the provincial curling champion won the Alberta Provincial Championship three more times in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

International Tournaments
After winning the provincial title, Koe finally attracted the attention of sponsors and the general public. As a result, Koe started taking part in international contests.
At the 2010 Capital One World Men’s Curling Championship, Kevin Koe finished in second place. Kevin, though, won his first world title after overcoming Norway in the semifinals.
Kevin started taking part in more international tournaments, like the 2010 Twin Anchor Invitational and the 2011 Dekalb Super Spiel.

Koe competed for Canada in the 2014 World Men’s Curling Championship and came in fourth. But later that year, Kevin took home another Global Curling Championship, making him a two-time world champion.
2018 Winter Olympics
Kevin Koe and his team competed in the 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in order to represent Canada in the 2018 Winter Olympics.
They battled against Mike McEwen, who they beat 7-1 to claim the title.
The Kevin Team had a strong opening round at the 2018 Olympics, winning their first four games. Koe’s team was unfortunately lost in the semifinals by John Shuster of the United States.
A Canadian team has never previously lost in the Olympic semifinals.

However, the team slid to fourth place overall after losing to Switzerland in the bronze medal match. Kevin and his team had to travel home without any prizes as a result.
