Kevin Millar is an American former Major League Baseball first baseman and outfielder. He participated in Major League Baseball with the Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox, and Baltimore Orioles.

Kevin Charles Millar was born on September 24, 1971, in California to Judy Millar and an unnamed father.

Millar admired baseball icon, Babe Ruth, as a child. Moreover, Kevin attended Hart High School.

Correspondingly, the California native conducted his high school form into college, where he played an important role for Lamar.

He studied and played baseball for University High School, which won the 3-A City championship in 1988 under coach Frank Cruz.

Further, He graduated from Hart High School in Santa Clarita, California. He studied at Los Angeles City Collegiate and subsequently Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he played college baseball.

Moreover, Millar and the Cardinals prospered under the leadership of Coach Jim Gilligan. Lamar finished 32-21 in 1992, achieving the NCAA’s largest turnaround with a 14-victory gain over the previous season.

Following the 1992 season, he participated in collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Harwich Mariners.

Kevin Millar | Professional Career

Kevin’s professional career began with Boston Red Sox.  Millar won his sole World Series ring in 2004 with the Red Sox.

The California native was with the organization for three seasons before leaving to play for the Baltimore Orioles.

Moreover, Millar signed as a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles on January 12, 2006. During the season, he beat Rey Ordóez‘s non-drafted player record for most games played.

Millar got on base safely for the 50th straight game on August 23, 2007, breaking a franchise record for the Orioles. Millar’s run ended on August 26, 2007, after 52 games.

Additionally, Millar signed a minor league agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays as a non-roster invitee on February 11, 2009.

He made the team and was assigned as a backup to the first baseman Lyle Overbay.

Further, Millar changed his number from #30 to his original #15 when Alex Ros was grabbed off waivers.

Kevin Millar | First Retirement

Millar resigned on April 21, 2010, however on April 27 on MLB Network Radio with Jim Duquette & Kevin Kennedy, he stated that it was not official since he still wanted to play.

Millar joined New England Sports Network (NESN) as a well-before and post-game critic on May 20, 2010. Moreover, Millar made a guest appearance for Fox Sports as well as its MLB on Fox Saturday telecasts on May 22.

He worked in the studio as a pre-game, game break, & post-game commentator for its primetime games, as well as a fill-in color analyst for select games during the season.

Return to baseball | St. Paul Saints

On May 5, 2010, when he signed a contract with the St. Paul Saints.  He batted.208 with no home runs and two RBIs in six games for the Saints in 2010.

Millar was given a single at-bat with the Saints in a regular-season game against the Winnipeg Goldeyes on June 24, 2017, as part of a promotional night commemorating the Saints’ 25th anniversary.

Millar blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning against his first live pitching in seven years; the Saints continued to win the game, 8-6.

Kevin Millar fouled a ball off his left wrist and broke the hamate bone in his first major league.
Millar, a ninth-grader at Hart High, was put on the 15-day disabled list and he also underwent successful surgery.

Millar was called up on April 6 after four minor league seasons in which he averaged more than 20 home runs and 90 runs batted in.
