On September 11, 1977, Christopher Brian Bridges, the sole child of college students Roberta and Wayne, was born in Champaign, Illinois.
When he was about 12 years old, Ludacris moved to Atlanta with his mother. Despite his parents’ separation when he was young, they remained close.
Before moving to Atlanta, he was a member of the Loudmouth Hooligans and began rapping when he was nine years old.
The teenage Bridges’ mother was strict with him, making sure he went to school and worked hard, but they both had hard times.
The young performer, who is passionate about music, began rapping when she was nine years old and joined a rap group when she was twelve.

‘Word of Mouf’ Spreads, Pepsi Controversy
Ludacris maintained the momentum with his third album, Word of Mouf, released in 2001. After the album’s lead hit, “Rollout (My Business),” which was nominated for a Grammy, three further singles were made available.
Due to collaborations with Twista and Nate Dogg, the album was a vibrant event that sold more than 3 million copies solely in the United States.
The rapper’s verbal prowess was lauded by The Los Angeles Times for “keeping the quips coming, injecting some form of humor into virtually every syllable of the 19 tracks.”
The artists signed to Ludacris’ DTP label were shown on his 2002 album Golden Grain, which also included an MC by the name of Tity Boi who would later become well-known as 2 Chainz.
Around this time, Ludacris acquired an advertising contract with Pepsi. When Fox News host Bill O’Reilly called for a boycott of the soda because it had picked someone who sang offensive lyrics, it caused a minor scandal.
Despite having previously dropped Ludacris, Pepsi ultimately chose to donate $3 million to urban NGOs after Russell Simmons’ Hip-Hop Summit Action Network took action.
Acting in the ‘Fast & the Furious Franchise
Ludacris portrays Tej Parker in the sequel to The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious. Rapper Ludacris was allegedly picked for the role in 2002 after Ja Rule, who had previously appeared in the movie, “got too big for himself”.

In his relationship with an Atlanta lawyer, Ludacris had a daughter they called Karma Bridges, who was born in August 2001 and served as the basis for Karma’s World.
