He shared Mangkok Mathiang as a two-way affiliate between the Hornets and their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.
Unfortunately, the Hornets’ decision to reject Marcus’ qualifying offer on June 29, 2018, resulted in his becoming a free agent.
He signed a two-year contract with the Serbian club Partizan Belgrade of the ABA League on July 11, 2018, after being a free agent.
Later, on February 12, 2019, Paige was successful in obtaining a Serbian passport and citizenship, and on May 9, 2020, he signed a two-year contract there.

Marcus experienced numerous injuries in his early years of playing sports. In 2015, Roy Williams, the coach of his UNC team, said in a press conference, “I hate it for Marcus.”
