He, unfortunately, sustained an injury while working out in the weight room. Mark chose to retire from football after this incident.
Life After Retirement
Mark decided to retire from football after suffering several injuries and went on to work as a host for various television networks.
He started hosting in 2004 and continues to do so on ESPN 540, the Packers’ Sunday morning pregame program.
Aside from that, the former tight-end co-hosts WAUK’s ‘The Show’ with Gabe Neitzel. From 2005 through 2009, Mark worked as a research analyst at the Boyle Law Group.
Chewy also worked as an assistant football coach at Waukesha West High School, where his kids were both football players.
Mark then took over as the offensive coordinator at Greenfield High School in 2017.
Rumors and Controversy
Chmura was accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl who happened to be his boys’ babysitter in April 2000.
According to the girl who filed the case,
“He raped me, sexually assaulted me, whatever you want to call it. That’s the truth.”
Mark was charged with third-degree sexual assault and child seduction as a result of this occurrence. If found to be guilty, Chewy could have faced up to 40 years in jail and a $20,000 fine.
On April 9, 2000, the event occurred during a party hosted by friend Robert Gessert in his Hartland home. At the moment, both the babysitter and Mark were drunk.
The expert decided that the problems were caused by anything other than sexual violence after the examination.
