Master P, born Percy Robert Miller Sr., is an American rapper, record producer, record executive, actor, and entrepreneur.

Early Life, Family, and Education

Percy Robert Miller was born on April 29, 1970, in the Calliope Projects of Central City in Uptown New Orleans’ Third Ward. He is the eldest of five children. He attended Warren Easton and Booker T. Washington High School.

Miller was also a basketball player on an athletic scholarship at the University of Houston, but he dropped out months into his first year to attend Merritt College in Oakland, California, where he majored in business administration.

Master P | Career

How does Master P start his music career?

On February 12, 1991, Master P released his debut studio album Get Away Clean. This was followed by the publication of his second album, Mama’s Bad Boy, in April 1992. Who’s da Killer? was Master P’s debut collaboration album with his group TRU, released in 1993.

Later on March 18, 1994, he released his third studio album, The Ghettos Are Trying to Kill Me! Master P’s fourth studio album, 99 Ways to Die, was released on June 6, 1995. True, Master P and TRU’s third album, was also released in 1995.

His Breakthrough Album

Master P’s fifth album, Ice Cream Man, was released on April 16, 1996. Mr. Ice Cream Man, a hit song, was featured. Master P returned to TRU later that year, in 1996, to work on Tru 2 da Game. On September 2, 1997, he released his debut album, Ghetto D.

The album’s first-week sales were the highest of all of Master P’s albums, selling over 760,000 copies and earning it triple platinum certification. After that Master P released MP Da Last Don, his eighth and best-selling album, on June 2, 1998.

Then Master P’s eighth studio album, Only God Can Judge Me, was released on October 26, 1999.

Guttar Music

After that, on December 18, 2001, Master P’s ninth studio album Game Face, the first Master P album published under The New No Limit, was released. Good Side, Bad Side, Master P’s thirteenth album, was released on March 23, 2004, by Koch Records and debuted at number one on the Billboard Independent Albums chart.

Moreover, Guttar Music was formed in 2005 by Master P and his son Romeo Miller. Later, on November 29, 2005, Guttar Music released Living Legend: Certified D-Boy, Master P’s first independent album, and thirteenth overall. Hip Hop History, a collaborative album with Romeo published in 2007, sold 32,000 copies worldwide.

Friends With Benefits and Middle Finga

Later on August 2, 2012, Master P announced that he was working on his thirteenth studio album, Boss of All Bosses. On September 17, 2012, Master P also teased his upcoming track, “Friends With Benefits,” featuring rapper/singer Kirko Bangz. Al Capone, Master P’s second official mixtape, was released on January 16, 2013.

Later on August 6, 2013, Master P also released his third official mixtape titled Famous Again as a promotion for his Boss of All Bosses album. The Gift, Master P’s fifth studio album, was released on December 6, 2013. Master P released Hustlin, his fourth collaboration mixtape with his group Money Mafia, on April 20, 2015.

Master P’s new song, “Middle Finga,” will be released on March 2, 2016. The G Mixtape, Master P’s sixth official mixtape, was released on August 21, 2016, and featured 2 Chainz, A$AP Ferg, E-40, The Game, Gucci Mane, Jeremih, Lil Wayne, Nipsey Hussle, No Limit Boys, Rick Ross, Usher, Travis Scott, and Yo Gotti.

Later, No Limit Chronicles, a five-part BET docuseries, will premiere on July 29, 2020, on Master P’s New Orleans-based hip-hop label. Eventually, on August 17, 2020, Master P posted a video on Instagram of himself and C-lawyer Murder addressing a crowd of demonstrators, rallying support for his brother’s release.

Master P married former rapper Sonya in a low-key ceremony in 1989. They had allegedly been dating for quite some time at that point. Their nearly two-decade marriage ended in 2011 when she filed for divorce and requested significant child support from him.

However, they formalized their divorce in 2014. She sued him again in 2016, this time seeking a share of Master P’s Family Empire income. Percy Romeo Miller, Jr., Cymphonique Miller, and Tytyana are among their seven children. Tytyana tragically died in May 2022.
