Career

Hamilton began curling as a teen with his sister, Becca. Curling was introduced to them by their father, who used to take them while he was playing.

One of the members once asked Scott Hamilton, “Does he play?” while Matt was watching his father play. Matt began playing the next day, immediately following that question.

His sister eventually joined him as he began curling every day. They first learned the skill together at the Madison Curling Club in McFarland.

Post Olympics Days

After the Olympics, when George announced his intention to take a break from curling, Matt took his place as the team’s third. Following that, the team went on to win gold at the 2019 United States Men’s Championship.

However, in the same year’s World Men’s Championship, they were defeated by Japan and finished fifth.

The following year, in 2020, they went undefeated and defended their US title at the 2020 US Men’s Championship.

This gave them the opportunity to compete in the Champion’s Cup and the World Men’s Curling Championship. Unfortunately, due to the novel coronavirus, all of these events were postponed.
