Joining Buffalo Sabres

Grigorenko committed to the Sabres for the 2013–14 campaign.

Prior to being sent down to junior on January 11, 2014, he only had sporadic appearances in 18 games due to the Sabres’ restructuring of the coaching staff and front office, as well as new head coach Ted Nolan’s order to rely less on young players.

After initially declining, he eventually went to the Remparts after a few days.

Grigorenko excelled with the Remparts in his final junior season, scoring 15 goals and amassing 39 points in 23 games.

Following his early exit from the postseason, Grigorenko was transferred to Buffalo’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Rochester Americans, for the remainder of the campaign.
