Early Career

Nicholas Burdi started playing baseball on a regular basis as soon as he registered at Downers Grove South High School in Illinois.

He participated as the quarterback for the varsity football team while attending high school with his siblings. Despite this, he stopped playing football because baseball was his real love.

One of the team’s top players was Burdi. He was a high school athlete with a ball throw speed of 95 mph (154 km/h).

This number was out of the ordinary for high school students. He attracted the attention of countless scouts with such balls.

He took part in the Area Code Games again that summer of 2010 and gave it his all. Moreover,  He was expected to be chosen in the first eight rounds of the MLB Draft the following year (2011).

On December 14, 2017, the Philadelphia Phillies selected Burdi in the Rule 5 Draft.

While Nick made a comeback in 2020, he also underwent Tommy John surgery in October of the same year.

On November 1, the Pirates outrighted him to Indianapolis, Indiana, but Burdi was signed as a free agent nine days later.

In order to focus more on their 2020 future, Nick signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres organization.
