Kurcherov ended the previous season with the team’s highest point (66) and second highest stats in assists (36) and goals (30).
On 11 October 2016, Kucherov extended the contract with Lightining to a three-year for $14.3 million.
Kucherov recorded his 200th career NHL point on February 21. Moreover, later that month he recorded his second career hat-trick, making it the 10th natural hat trick in Lightning history. On 7 April, Kucherov scored his 40th goal of the season, achieving a new landmark. Furthermore, with his 40th goal, Kucherov joined 4 others on the list as the only player in Lightning history with 40-goal seasons.

- Kurcherov holds the title of the first player to record a goal in five consecutive games to start a season in franchise history.
- On 16 October, Kucherov extended the streak to six games by scoring two more goals. Moreover, he became the only player in the last 30 years to score a goal in each of their first six games along with Mario Lemieux, Keith Tkachuk, and Steve Yzerman.
- Furthermore, the next night he extended his streak even more. This makes him the sixth player in the modern era to score in each of their team’s first seven games.
Kucherov extended his contract for eight more years with a deal of a humongous $76 million with the Lightning.

International Career:
