Professional Life and Career

Paul beat Tiger Woods’ championship scoring record while still an amateur by winning three Pac-12 Championships in a row.

Additionally, in 1999, he became one of just three players in the 77-year history of the Walker Cup to win four straight games.

He also started his professional career in 2001 when he joined the PGA Tour in the US and the European Tour.

In 2001, Paul received the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year honor. Not to note, Paul and one of the best players, Luke Donald, shared the World Cup of Golf victory in 2004.

Additionally, Casey won a foursome match in 2006 by shooting a hole-in-one, making him the first and only player in Ryder Cup history to do it.

Controversy

In an interview with the Sunday Times newspaper in November 2004, when asked how he felt about the US Ryder Cup team, Paul Casey reportedly responded, “Oh, we despise them. As badly as we could, we wanted to defeat them.

Even though his then coach and his then-girlfriend were both Americans, he continued by saying that American supporters may be “bloody unpleasant.”

Casey and Woodward wed in a stunning outdoor wedding later in January 2015.
