Philipp Grubauer was born on November 20, 1991, in Rosenheim, Germany, to Peter and Susi Grubauer. There are few details about his parents and childhood available.

Philipp was selected by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round, 112nd overall, of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. In October 2010, he agreed to a three-year deal with the Capitals.
In the 2011–12 season, he made a comeback, and he hasn’t looked back since. Grubauer had a career-high 15 wins in 28 starts in the 2017–18 season.
He was given a three-year, $10 million contract by the Colorado Avalanche when he was traded to them in 2018.

He was unable to reach an agreement with the avalanche before the contract’s expiration in 2021, so he decided to move to Seattle Kraken and sign a six-year, $35.4 million deal.
Olympics and International Experience
