Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s kids are now deserving of the royal titles after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. They will be titled as Prince and Princess only if Charles now King allows them to be.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children are Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana. They can be referred to as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet only if the royal family follows tradition.  As their grandfather, Prince Charles is now King after the death of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday.

In the rules, the children and grandchild of the monarch will be entitled to Prince and Princess. It is the rule first made by King George V in the year 1917.

When Archie and Lilibet were first born, they were not given titles because they were the great-grandchildren of the monarch. Further, the statement reads,

“…the grandchildren of the sons of any such sovereign in the direct male line (save only the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales) shall have and enjoy in all occasions the style and title enjoyed by the children of dukes of these our realms.”

Though, King Charles III can destroy the rule but is not sure that he will do so. Also, the sources stated that King Charles can change his decision anytime soon. Moreover, the sources also added,

“Archie will almost certainly become a prince one day. Charles isn’t going to disavow his grandson, so it’s hugely unlikely that he’ll change the rules to stop it happening. The Charles also isn’t going to say that Archie can’t use the title any time soon.”

However, when Queen Elizabeth was alive, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three kids were given the title of Prince and Princess.

The reason for this was they are the children of the eldest son of Prince Charles. They are Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

According to the reports, a year ago Charles said to his son, Prince Harry that Archie and Lilibet will not have a title like other grandchildren. He stated that he will change the documents into not giving title to them which is their birthright though.

However, in January 2020, Meghan Markel and Prince Harry stopped using His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness titles. Also, they didn’t do the senior royal duties and moved to the US.

Likewise, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their exit officially in February of the same year.

Though, Meghan talked about not giving titles to her kids in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. In an interview, Markle also claimed that her kids weren’t treated the same as other grandchildren. Further, she said,

“While I was pregnant, they said they want to change the convention for Archie.”

It is clear that Prince Harry and Meghan’s kids are currently sixth and seventh in line to the throne. As they are after Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and Harry.

Moreover, the mother of two also explained that her son is not safe due to not giving him any title. Despite being the first member of the family, Archie was treated as same as the other grandchildren.

Furthermore, sharing her point of view, Meghan demanded a title for the safety of her kids. On the other hand, she stated,

“All the grandeur surrounding this stuff is an attachment that I don’t personally have. I’ve been a waitress, an actress, a princess, a duchess, I’ve always just still been Meghan.”

Meanwhile, she believes that Mom is the “most important” title.
