After he and Meghan Markle announced they were leaving the royal family in January 2020, Prince Harry claims Prince William became furious during a family meeting that followed.
The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry says in Episode 5 of Netflix’s “Harry & Meghan” docuseries, which debuted Thursday, “It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father [King Charles III] say things that just simply weren’t true, and my grandmother [Queen Elizabeth II] quietly sit there and just take it all in.”
“The saddest part of it was this wedge that it created between myself and my brother.”

The Queen, who passed away in September, had a “duty” to her position as monarch, according to Harry, who also points out that she was surrounded by advisors who cautioned her that her grandson’s historic action might be “seen as an attack on the institution.”
The prince claims that because he had “so much respect for her,” he “never” blindsided his cherished grandmother with information.
But more than simply the gathering—also known as Sandringham Summit—left Harry with a bad taste in his mouth. Harry claims he spoke to his father about his and Markle’s wish to go to Canada a few days before making the announcement.
“And in one of those [emails], I had mentioned that if this wasn’t gonna work out then we would be willing to relinquish our Sussex titles if need be,” Harry says.

The information spread swiftly!
“It became clear that the institution leaked the fact that we were gonna be moving back to Canada. And the key piece of that story that made me aware that the contents of the letter between me and my father had been leaked was that we were willing to relinquish our Sussex titles. That was the giveaway,” Harry explains.
“And I was like, ‘Wow. Our story, our lives, literally got taken from underneath us.’”
Only after Markle, 41, departed town did the summit take place, according to the prince, 38. He claims he promptly requested a meeting with palace officials to discuss how to handle the ensuing media frenzy.

In the documentary, Harry tells his wife, “It was clear to me that they planned it. So that you weren’t in the room.”
The couple’s farewell tour brought them back to the UK in March 2020. They have a son named Archie, 3, and a daughter named Lilibet, 1.
At a tense family reunion at Westminster Abbey, where Harry and William. 40, hardly greeted one another, Harry recalls feeling “nervous” and acknowledges that tensions were high.
