Queen Elizabeth II has unveiled a magnificent new portrait ahead of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Last week, Ranald Mackechnie shot the historic photograph in Windsor Castle’s Victoria Vestibule, which the Royal Family shared on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Her Majesty The Queen, the first Monarch in British history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee,” the caption said.

For the photo shoot, the 96-year-old British queen eschewed crowns. And tiaras in favor of an unadorned head of precisely poofed snow-white hair.
Similarly, Queen Elizabeth II wore a pale blue coat dress with appliquéd seams. And a pearl necklace and earrings, and a plain gold watch on her wrist.

Her diamond engagement ring from her late husband. As Prince Philip took center stage, she sat at an angle, her knees crossed and her hands folded on her lap.

Similarly, Her Majesty also issued a statement ahead of the festivities, in addition to the new photo.

During the festivities, the Queen will meet Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s youngest child, Lilibet, who is 11 months old.
Furthermore, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in London with their baby girl. And three-year-old son, Archie, on Wednesday afternoon after flying from Los Angeles.
Similarly, tomorrow will have a four-day bank holiday in honor of the British monarch, starting the ceremony with the annual Trooping the Color. On Sunday the festivities will culminate with Platinum Jubliee Pageant.
