Randy Orton was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of pro wrestler Bob Orton Jr. and nurse Elaine Orton.

Furthermore, his grandfather Bob Orton and uncle Barry Orton are both professional wrestlers. Nathan, his younger brother, is a comic.

His parents tried to urge him to stay away from the business when he was younger because they were aware of the difficulties that a professional wrestler faces.

The Marine Corps Before Wrestling

After graduating from high school in 1998, Randy joined the Marine Corps. However, he was deserted twice as a result of defying a commanding officer’s order.

For inappropriate behavior, he was fired in 1999. Orton was also detained for 38 days at Camp Pendleton, a military jail.

Orton first wrestled in the Mid-Missouri Wrestling Association-Southern Illinois Conference Wrestling in 2000. (MMWA-SICW).

Professional Life and Career

Wrestling in Ohio’s Valley

Orton continued his training at Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville after accepting a deal with the former World Wrestling Federation in 2001.

Two-time OVW Hardcore Champion, and he was there. His most prominent opponents included Rico Constantino, Steven Richards, and John Cena (then The Prototype).


Orton made his official debut in the WWF on March 16, 2002, at WrestleMania X8’s Fan Axxess, but his debut was only televised on SmackDown on April 25, 2002. His supporters flocked to him almost immediately.

He was eventually drafted to the Raw roster. He beat Stevie Richards in his first match on the show.

Later, he joined the Evolution stable, which dominated all of the men’s titles on Raw in 2003, alongside Ric Flair, Triple H, and Batista.

With his self-proclaimed “The Legend Killer” moniker, he acquired recognition for feuds with respected wrestlers. He created his famed signature finisher, the RKO, at this time.

WWE Champion at a Young Age

Orton became the youngest world champion at the age of 24 after defeating Chris Benoit at SummerSlam. He also defended the title in a rematch on Raw against Benoit.

His Evolution companions, on the other hand, were not thrilled with his success, and he had multiple feuds and clashes with them, eventually leading to the group’s disbandment.

In January 2005, he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Triple H at the Royal Rumble.

After John Cena retired due to injuries in 2007, Orton won the WWE Championship.

He reclaimed it with Triple H and kept it on many occasions with Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, John Cena, and Triple H.

In 2009, he won it again by pinning Triple H, and he kept it with Batista in 2010. In a fatal four-way match in June 2010, he reclaimed the title and successfully defended it against Triple H and John Cena.

However, he lost it to Cena in an “I Quit” match before reclaiming it in a Hell in a Cell match against him.

Meanwhile, in 2008, Orton formed “The Legacy,” a partnership with Cody Rhoades and Manu. In their first match, they beat Batista and Triple H. However, in 2010, the coalition collapsed.
