College career

Evans participated in college football at Alabama University. Evans participated on special teams in 13 games as a true freshman and recorded 15 tackles (two for loss) and one sack.

Although his two sacks against Clemson in the team’s national championship victory that year put him on many scouts’ radars, Evans continued to play mostly on special teams and as a backup outside linebacker as a sophomore.

In 2017, Evans was selected to the second team of the Southeastern Conference after starting 12 games, tying for the team lead with 74 tackles, leading the team with 13 tackles for loss, recording six sacks, and breaking up three passes.

Evans made 18 tackles from the inside linebacker position in the team’s two playoff games in 2016 (his only starts of the year).

He finished the season with 53 tackles overall, including four sacks, six quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble in 14 games.

Professional career

Evans signed a four-year, $11.7 million contract with the Tennessee Titans on May 15, 2018, which also included a $6.59 million signing bonus.

Evans battled Will Compton and Jayon Brown for the starting inside linebacker position throughout training camp.

In Week 13, Evans recorded a season-high eight combined tackles during a 26-22 victory over the New York Jets.

In 15 games and seven starts, Evans finished his rookie season with 53 total tackles and a pass deflection.

2019 season

Evans contributed 10 total tackles in Week 4 while also recording his first NFL sack in a 24-10 road victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

After he and teammate Isaiah Mack sacked Matt Ryan, Evans was given credit for half of the sack.

2020 season

Evans was dismissed from the game against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football in Week 1 after punching tight end Jake Butt.

2021 season

Evans’ contract’s fifth-year option was not exercised by the Titans on May 3, 2021, making him a free agent following the 2021 campaign.

Atlanta Falcons

Evans agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons on April 4, 2022.

Injuries

Rashaan has experienced a number of injuries over the course of his professional career.

He suffered one of his first injuries in August 2016 when, before the season, he bruised his left groin.
