Ravichandran Ashwin became the first Indian to get 50 wickets in a test match the quickest in late 2012 during the Test series against England.

Later, in 2013, Ashwin achieved his second test century to establish the biggest test partnership (7th wicket) ever (280 runs) against the West Indies. In only the 18th Test, he broke another record by collecting 100 wickets.

When Ashwin dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim on February 12, 2017, he set a new record for the quickest player to 250 test wickets.

The fastest player to ever reach 300 test wickets in 54 test matches was Ashwin, who accomplished it during the Test series against Sri Lanka.

Jofra Archer was defeated by Ashwin on February 25, 2021, as he reached the milestone of 400 test wickets. The second-fastest bowler to reach that milestone, he is the fourth Indian.

ODI

For India’s ODI debut against Sri Lanka on June 5, 2010, Ashwin played the match. In addition, he recorded 2/50 in his debut while also scoring 32 runs.

In addition, Ashwin contributed 15 runs and claimed two wickets in four overs during the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy final, which was reduced to a 20-over contest due to rain.

Ashwin participated in both New Zealand and the Australian teams for the 2015 World Cup. He picked up 13 wickets in 8 games, playing a key role in India’s semi-final victory.

T20

In his first T20I against Zimbabwe, Ravichandran Ashwin took 1/22 in 4 overs.

He then developed into an important bowler for India during the 2014 ICC World Cup and Aisa Cup. He contributed to India winning the 2014 Asia Cup with nine wickets in four games.

Furthermore, He also contributed 11 wickets to India’s unbeaten journey to the WT20 finals. In both competitions, Ashwin was named to the “Team of the Tournament.”

Later, in 2016, Ashwin became the first player in Indian history to record 50 T20 wickets. Additionally, Ashwin is India’s top wicket-taker in international T20 cricket with 52 wickets.

Career in IPL

Chennai Super Kings choose Ravichandran Ashwin to play in the IPL in 2009. Later in 2010 and 2011, he won two straight IPL championships with CSK. He was able to take 12 and 20 wickets in each season of the championship-winning campaign, respectively.

Additionally, while playing with CSK, he also captured the Champions League T20 in 2010 and 2014. He recorded 13 wickets in the 2010 edition, which made him the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.

Traveling Men

After serving a two-year suspension from the IPL, Ashwin was selected by the Rising Pune SuperGiants in 2016.

He took his 100th IPL wicket during a four-wicket victory over Punjab. But he was injured the next year and was unable to play.

Later in the year, Kings XI Punjab selected Ashwin and named him their captain.

To play for Delhi Capitals in the 2020 IPL, Ashwin was moved. He has taken 138 wickets overall in 151 innings of the IPL.

Controversy

Ravichandran Ashwin recently got into a fight with Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan during an Indian Premier League (IPL) game in October 2021.

Later, Ashwin explained the incident on Twitter, claiming that when he made the run, he was unaware that the ball had struck Rishabh.

Once more, he emphasized that even if he had known that the ball had struck Rishabh, he would have gone for the run.

Following that, Twitter as a whole was split in half. While some agreed with him, others sided with Morgan.

Foundation

Ravichandran Ashwin established the Ashwin Foundation in 2019. It offers youngsters from low-income families cricket scholarships.
