College Career

So, Robbie asked his high school principal to write a recommendation letter for Joe Paterno, the then-head football coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Soon after, the head coach invited Robbie to play on a regular basis for the Nittany Lions. Yet, Robbie did not have a successful college career. And, Robbie only made 39 of 61 field goals and had a field goal percentage of 63.9.

Again, Robbie graduated from college in 2004, and the following year, he declared for the NFL draft.

Professional Career

Robbie went undrafted in the 2005 NFL draft, as expected because he did not have good stats in college.

Nevertheless, Robbie was signed by the New England Patriots prior to the 2005 NFL preseason. Further, Robbie signed another contract with the Baltimore Ravens the same year before they released him.

Chicago Bears

On October 8th, 2005, Robbie signed with the Chicago Bears. Similarly, A week later, Robbie scored his first NFL goal against the Cleveland Browns.

Further, Robbie improved dramatically and performed admirably in his second NFL season, scoring 26 consecutive field goals. Moreover, Robbie received numerous honors, including the NFL fans’ choice for a kicker in the 2007 Pro Bowl.

Also, Following that, Robbie appeared in every game for the Chicago Bears in the NFL and consistently delivered until 2011.

On October 20th, 2016, Robbie signed with the New York Giants after being released by the Chicago Bulls. Similarly, On October 23rd, Robbie made his first field goal against the Los Angeles Rams.

Further, On November 20th, Robbie faced his former team, the Chicago Bears, and even managed to score a 46-yard field goal.

Again, Robbie had an outstanding season for the Giants, scoring on 10 of 10 field-goal attempts. Regardless, Robbie was released by the club at the end of the 2016 season.

San Francisco 49ers

Robbie Gould has agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers on a two-year contract for the 2017 NFL season. In Robbie’s debut against the Carolina Panthers, he hit a 44-yard field goal.

Similarly, Robbie wanted to leave the 49ers before the 2019 season, but the team offered him a four-year contract extension worth $19 million, to which he agreed.

Again, In the 2021 season, Robbie suffered a groin injury and missed some time before returning to the field on November 6th.

Additionally, Mitch Wisnowsky, the team’s punter, was injured, so he took over punting duties and did his best.  As a result, Robbie was the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
