Career as a Hobbyist

In 2004, East Tennessee State University awarded Rory a golf scholarship based on his outstanding golf abilities. However, he declined the golf scholarship and instead continued playing amateur golf in Europe.

At the age of 15, Rory was part of Europe’s Junior Ryder Cup-winning team in 2004. Rory won the West of Ireland Championship and the Irish Close Championship for the first time in 2005, making him the youngest champion of both events.
