Ryota had eight fights and five knockouts, placing him fourth in the WBC middleweight rankings.

2012 Olympics

In order to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, Ryota had to defeat Algerian Abdelmalek Rahou at the ExCel in London. This victory marked a memorable chapter in Ryota’s teen boxing career.

Similar to this, Murata won the gold medals by defeating Esquiva Falcao 14-13.

After dominating the opposition in the quarterfinal of the Summer Olympics of 1986, Ryota became the first person to win the gold medal for their country aside from Florentino.

With that achievement, Ryota became the first boxer to win the gold medal following Takao Sakurai in the 1968 Olympics.
