Sachin Tendulkar has come to represent cricket due to his legendary accomplishments and successes.

About Sachin Tendulkar |  Family and Education

On April 24, 1973, Rajni Tendulkar and Ramesh Tendulkar welcomed Sachin Tendulkar into the world in Dadar, Bombay.

Sachin’s father was a well-known Marathi poet and novelist. His mother was employed by an insurance company as well.

The name Sachin Tendulkar was inspired by his father’s favorite composer, Sachin Dev Burman.

Additionally, Nitin, Ajit, and Savita, three older half-siblings who were born to Ramesh’s first wife, were also given to him.

Tendulkar resided in the Sahitya Saha Cooperative Housing Society for most of his formative years.

He was seen as a troublemaker and bully who liked to pick fights, usually with new students at his school.

He was inspired by American tennis player John McEnroe and played tennis before playing cricket. Later, in 1984, his brother Ajit taught him how to play cricket in ato him to behave better.

Sachin’s first tutor was a well-known teacher named Ramakant Achrekar. However, in their initial meeting, Sachin didn’t perform to his potential.

Then, his brother requested a second opportunity for himself. Later, Ramakant hid behind the tree when Sachin displayed his talent.

The start of his cricket career

When he was being trained by Ramakant, Sachin attended the New English School of the Indian Education Society.

The coach advised him to shift to Sharadashram Vidyamandir (English) High School after noticing his natural game.

Ramakant worked with Sachin in the morning and the evening at Shivaji Park. Due to his busy schedule, he moved close to the park to live with his uncle.

Sachin spent a lot of time online practicing as directed. The coach placed a coin on the stumps, and whoever removed him when he became fatigued was entitled to keep it.

If Sachin was able to complete the session without leaving, he would, nonetheless, be given the coin. He claims he received 13 coins.

In addition to collegiate cricket contests, he played for John Bright Cricket Club in the Kanga League.

To become a fast bowler, Sachin joined the MRF Speed Foundation in 1987.

Australian bowler Dennis Lillee was unimpressed and suggested that Sachin focus solely on his batting.

Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian cricketer, handed Sachin his incredibly light pads a few months later and urged him not to be discouraged because he didn’t win the Best Junior Cricket Award.

Sachin was employed as the ball boy the same year when India and England faced off in the semifinal of the Cricket World Cup.

The year after, in 1988, Sachin played every game at bat and amassed 100 runs. In their Lord Harris Shield Interschool matchup versus St. Xavier High School, he and Vinod Kambli amassed 664 runs altogether.

He totaled 326 points for the contest. Furthermore, up until 2006, that cooperation set a record and persisted in doing so.

Professional Life and Career

Sachin made his Indian debut against Pakistan in a test match. In his debut game, he was successful in scoring 15 runs.

In the test, he scored 215 runs total, but none in the ODI. Later, as the youngest player for India, he made his Test and ODI debut.

On August 14, 1990, while India was on tour in England, Sachin scored his first test century against England. In the second test, he had 119 unbeaten runs.

Before the 1992 World Cup, he also made 148 runs against Australia, becoming the youngest player to ever score 100 runs against that nation.

Ascend to fame

Sachin’s performance peaked in his early twenties. He recorded his first ODI century against Australia on September 9, 1994, scoring 110.

Later, with two centuries, he finished as the tournament’s leading scorer at the 1996 ICC World Cup. But in the semifinals, Sri Lanka upset his team.

Later, in early 1998, during Australia’s visit to India, Sachin scored three straight test centuries.

Additionally, he finished with 5/32 in ten overs in the opening ODI game on April 11, 1998, recording his first five-wicket haul.

In the middle of the 1991 Cricket World Cup, Sachin’s father passed away. He had to catch a trip home to participate in his father’s death ceremonies, therefore he was forced to miss the match against Zimbabwe.

When he returned for the subsequent match, he hit an unbeaten 140 against Kenya and dedicated his century to his late father.

The same year, he defeated Australia’s skipper Steve Waugh to record his 100th ODI wicket.

During the third test against England in August 2002, Sachin went on to surpass Sir Donald Bradman’s mark of 29 test centuries.

Tendulkar scored 673 runs in 11 innings to lead India to the World Cup final in 2003. Even though Australia, the defending champion, took home the title, Sachin was voted Player of the Tournament.

By scoring his 35th test century against Sri Lanka on December 10, 2005, Sachin broke the previous record.

Awful Times

Tendulkar scored 64 runs in three games while batting in the lower order for India as they narrowly made it out of the group round of the 2007 World Cup.

After a poor world cup run, Sachin considered quitting, but Vic Richards and Ajit Tendulkar convinced him to keep playing.

Later, in the Future Cup match against South Africa, Sachin became the first batsman to accumulate 15,000 ODI runs.

Similar to this, Sachin broke Brian Lara’s previous test run record with 88 runs in the second test of India’s tour to Australia.

When Sachin scored 200 runs against South Africa on February 24, 2010, he became the first male cricketer to reach a double century.

The world’s best

The 2011 ICC World Cup saw India overcome Sri Lanka in the final, and Sachin ultimately took home the sport’s most cherished award.

He listed winning the world cup as his finest career accomplishment.

He was India’s top run-scorer with 482 runs scored, including two centuries, and an average of 53.55 runs.

Later, on November 8, 2011, Sachin became the first and only batter to amass 15,000 test runs.

Similar to how Sachin did it on March 16, 2012, against Bangladesh in an Asia Cup game, when he eventually completed his 100th international century.

The first and only individual to accomplish the feat is Sachin. He scored 114 runs off 147 balls throughout his illustrious innings.

Bollywood Indians

During the inaugural IPL season, Sachin was selected as an iconic player and captain for the Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai reached the finals of the 2010 season later but lost to sworn enemies CSK. The most runs scored in a single IPL season was, however, a record he did set (618 in 14 games).

He was also recognized as the best player, batsman, and captain of the competition.

Sachin scored his first T20 century in 2011 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala (100 off 66 balls).

In the 2013 Champions Trophy final, he participated in his farewell game for Mumbai against Rajasthan Royal. In the contest, Sachin scored 14 runs, and his side took home the trophy.

Just 78 games and 2,334 runs later, Sachin left the IPL. In his tribute, Mumbai retired his number 10 jersey.

Sachin was suggested by the Indian President for election to the Rajya Sabha in April. Additionally, he was the first living athlete to be nominated.

On June 4th, Sachin later took the oath of office. He rejected a government-provided apartment in New Delhi, arguing that it was a waste of tax money.

Since being elected to the Rajya Sabha, he has donated his whole monthly salary to the Prime Minister Relief Fund.

Retirement

On October 10, 2013, Sachin declared his retirement from international cricket following a test series victory against the West Indies at home.

In answer to his request, BCCI set the locations of both test matches as Mumbai and Kolkata. A total of 74 runs were scored in his final innings.

His ODI career would, however, come to an end on December 23, 2012, as a result of a lackluster performance during the England tour of India.

He also declared his retirement from T20I in 2006 and promised not to play in this format again.

Legacy

Sachin retired as the player who scored the most runs in Tests and ODIs, finishing with 15,921 runs (18,426 runs). Also unique among cricketers, he is the only one with 30,000 runs in international competition.

By scoring the most century in ODI and Test matches, Sachin has also accomplished a fantastic milestone (51). (49).

As the cricketer with the most international centuries (100), Sachin also owns that record.  In Outlook India’s ranking of the greatest Indians, Sachin came in at number eight.

Relationship Status

The spouse of Sachin Tendulkar is Anjali Metha. Her conception took place on November 19, 1967. She is the offspring of industrialist Anand Metha and social activist Annabel Metha.
