American professional basketball player Sean Williams represents his country. The New Jersey Nets selected the player with the 17th overall choice in the 2007 NBA Draft. Since then, Sean has continued to play basketball.

Early Life and Family

On September 13, 1986, Sean Williams was born in Houston, Texas to his father Ronald Williams, and mother Audrey Garrett. The player’s siblings are Myles Garrett and Brea Garrett as well.

Sean was brought up by his mother Audrey and stepfather Lawrence Garrett in Arlington, Texas. His family is made up of half-siblings. But Sean didn’t get to see his biological father too often.

Roland, his biological father, lived in Houston, Texas. Williams’ family was content despite the fact that he and his father had split up when he was a little child.

High School Days

Sean Williams wasn’t a highly sought-after recruit when he graduated from high school, but he chose BC over Texas. Williams excelled academically and athletically. On the SATs, he scored 1280 in his junior year of high school (out of 1600).

Williams averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks per game to lead Mansfield High School in scoring.

Despite his accomplishments, Sean did not start paying for team basketball until he was 15 years old. During his senior year, he was honored as the top newcomer in the district.

Sean Williams: College Career

When Sean arrived at Boston College, he wanted to make an immediate impact. He was selected Big East Rookie of the Week for his performances against Connecticut and Providence.

He had 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 6 shot blocks in the end. In the Big East, Williams has blocked the third-most shots. He was either the team leader alone or shared the lead in blocked shots twenty times.

Sean’s bold personality and aggressive on-court play while he blocks shots from the opposing team have earned him the moniker “Boston’s blocking force.”

Even though Sean didn’t play for his collegiate team for the entire season, he still left a lasting mark on the basketball court while fighting for the ACC and Big East Conference.

During his undergraduate years (2006–2007), Sean was the top player, blocking shots and setting numerous records.

International Career

Williams inked a deal with the Fujian SBS XunXin squad of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) in 2010. In total, he took part in 16 games for the team. Williams won the dunk contest at the 2010 CBA All-Star Game.

In the 2009–10 season, Williams played for the Puerto Rican Mets de Guaynabo.

In August 2010, Williams became a member of Hapoel Jerusalem of the Israeli League. He was unable to take part in a game because he was released prior to the team’s debut.

On August 10, 2011, Williams penned a contract with the Maccabi Haifa B.C. He could rejoin the NBA in accordance with the rules of the agreement if he got an NBA offer.

NBA/NBA D-League

Sean signed a contract with the Texas Legends in November 2010. Due to his great skills and performance, he was chosen for the 2011 NBA D-League All-Star Game.

The American athlete was chosen for the NBA Development League’s Third Team. In the 2011 election for Defensive Player of the Year, he finished in second place.

Sean played for various different teams between 2011 and 2012. He was unable to play for long with any team because of his frequent transfers.

Although Sean played for the NBA, he was more interested in joining foreign teams.

The player joined the Turkish Leagues Torku Selcuk Universitesi in September 2013. He worked for the Turkish League for four years.

In March 2017, Sean joined the GlobalPort Batang Pier in preparation for the 2017 PBA Commissioners Cup. He participated in tri-team contests. He no longer has any club limitations and is a free agent.

Possession of Marijuana

During his junior year of college, Sean exhibited certain restricting behaviors, which caused the college’s disciplinary committee to suspend him. He made the same mistake twice and paid the price for it.

In 2005, the football player was detained on suspicion of marijuana possession. Boston removed him from the collegiate squad following his arrest.

However, Sean steadfastly maintained his innocence when questioned by the police, and at the end of the formal investigation, the authorities cleared Sean.

The charges were withdrawn after the treatment program was finished. He was denied access to Boston for a semester. The player was a Houston University student at the time.

Sean immediately returned to the game after addressing all of the complaints that had been made against him.

Arrested for the second time

The basketball team violated the no-trespassing policy by attending a BC Duke game in February 2009. Because of his actions, the cops detained him.

While being detained, Sean resisted arrest. According to the police report, he substituted vulgarity for his name on the fingerprinting card and trespassing warning.

The players were imprisoned as a result of yet another incident that occurred on March 16, 2009. In a cell phone store at the Lone Tree Park Meadows Mall, Sean was accused of acting inappropriately toward a salesman.

During the argument, Sean threw the store’s computer monitor, destroying the printer and signature pad in the process. As a result of his actions, he was charged with malicious and criminal mischief.
