American actor Shawn Mathis Wayans was born in New York on January 19, 1971. His father, Howell Stouten Wayans, had a grocery store. His mother, Elvira Alethia, was a homemaker and a social worker.

Shawn, the ninth of ten children, was reared in the Fulton Houses section of Chelsea, Manhattan. Keenen Ivory, Damon Sr., Marlon, Kim, Elvira, and Nadia Wayans are among his siblings.

Regarding his education, in 1989, he received his diploma from Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities.

How did Mathis start his Career?

Following his graduation from high school, Shawn Wayans and a handful of his siblings joined the cast of the renowned American sketch-comedy series “In Living Color.”

Young Shawn was portrayed in the Keenen Ivory Wayans-produced program as a talented comic with possibilities for success in Hollywood. He kept making appearances on the program until 1993

In 2000, he co-wrote and played the lead role in the horror comedy “Scary Movie.” The movie, which his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans directed, was inspired by I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream.

The film made $278 worldwide at the box office despite receiving terrible reviews. The film had four successors as a result of its enormous popularity.

Movie Career

The next year, in 2001, the first prequel, “Scary Movie 2,” was released. Ivory Keenen Wayans was in charge of the direction, and Shawn continued to contribute as a co-writer and in his previous performing capacity.

The movie enjoyed commercial success. It wasn’t as successful as its predecessor, though. Most of the reviews were unfavorable.

Wayans co-wrote the script for the film and starred as the lead as an FBI agent on the lookout for drug dealers. The film was a box office success but received generally unfavorable reviews.

In the years that followed, he had appearances in the comedies “Little Man” (2006), directed by his brother Keenen Ivory Williams, and “Dance Flick” (2009), a musical comedy helmed by another of his brothers, Damien Dante Wayans.

His most recent appearance is as Tommy, a voice actor for the animated comedy television series “Animals.”

The Wayans Bros, an American television series, is one of Shawn Wayans’ most important productions.

From 11 January 1995 through 20 May 1999, the Shawn and his brother Marlon-produced program aired on the WB Television Network.

The program had five seasons, each having twenty-two episodes and thirteen in the first season.

The American horror comedy “Scary Movie,” which was released in 2000, was Wayans’ first significant feature.
