The hosts of “GMA3,” Amy Robach and T.J. In the wake of their shocking affair scandal, Holmes have been removed from television.
The two would not present their regular 1 p.m. show, ABC News president Kim Godwin revealed on Monday during an internal call.
On the call, Godwin reportedly complained to staff members that the alleged affair had become an “internal and external distraction.”
She remarked, “After a lot of thought, I am taking Amy and T.J. off the air as we figure this out.”
Godwin continued by saying that even if the alleged affair between Holmes and Robach “was not a breach of corporate policy,” it was nonetheless important for the “GMA” brand as a whole to remove them from their anchor positions.
Holmes and Robach took “the day off” on Monday, and Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez filled in to host. “GMA3” for the remainder of the week while more internal discussions about how to handle the controversy were going place at the network.
An ABC News representative declined to comment. The Daily Mail broke the story first on Monday.
The apparent romance between Holmes and Robach was revealed last week after the two put up a flirty show at clubs close to ABC’s Midtown studios.
Although other sources close to the anchors claim the relationship started in August. When Holmes and Robach parted ways with their respective husbands. Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, it is thought that Holmes and Robach’s romance could have started as early as the spring.
News of the two supposedly having a romantic relationship broke last week. Also, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez will step in as “GMA3” anchors on Monday.
Following the scandal, Page Six revealed “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts was not pleased with the alleged affair.
“She is not only very religious, but also doesn’t like this kind of scandal tainting the show,” as per insider of Page Six.
According to previous reports, Roberts, 62, approached Amy Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45, regarding the alleged liaison. Roberts “took them both away and simply screamed, “Stop it,” a source close to the situation stated.
Holmes, who formerly referred to himself as “a marriage proponent,” has also been in the news for reportedly cheating on Fiebig with another ABC employee in the past, in addition to the Robach incident.
Last week, the report claimed that Holmes had a three-year relationship with “GMA” producer Natasha Singh that supposedly began in 2016.
Holmes and Singh apparently told Robach about their adultery at the time.
According to sources, “Amy was the person they went to talk to about their affair and marriages.”
Fiebig is said to have learned of the Singh affair in 2019, but she is said to have been “blindsided” by Holmes’ purported new relationship with Robach while she and the TV personality were attempting to patch up their marriage in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak.
Robach reportedly split from her spouse in August. After a “rocky” marriage, her divorce from Shue is “nearly finalized,” as per Page Six.
Robach’s take on the case
After “GMA3’s” taping on Friday, Amy Robach was seen leaving the New York City apartment she had lived with Shue. This was the first time she spoke out about the scandal.
Robach responded positively when a Daily Mail reporter asked if she had anything to say. I’ve received a lot of help. And before stepping into a black service car, she said, “And, you know. I appreciate everything, and I’m happy to be going to work.”
The Post was informed by sources last week that the couple will probably “keep their jobs” despite the consequences of their affair. Also, the network will profit from the publicity the story is receiving.
The insider stated that “ratings are going to shoot through the roof” based on the attention this story is receiving and that “it’s ultimately about the ratings.”
Godwin continued on the call with editorial, “If you think there is something that management needs to know, you can always call HR or, as we’ve said, talk to a manager that you trust. If you think there is something that we need to know.”
