Later, as manager of the Argentine national team, Martino guided the squad to the 2015 Copa América final, where they were defeated by Chile.

He also coached the team until the Copa América Centenario Finals on July 5, 2016, before retiring.

Atlanta United

Following that, he became the manager of Atlanta United, a Major League Soccer expansion team.

Martino’s contract with the team was just for the 2018 MLS season, and he did not renew it. In his final game, he led the squad to a win over the Portland Timbers.

Mexico national team
