At exactly midnight today, Taylor Swift released her new album, Midnights, in a very on-brand move.
Regarding the fans who are eager to find out whether Taylor Swift is engaged to long-term lover Joe Alwyn, she has something to say.
She dedicates one of the songs, track one, to her longtime partner Joe Alwyn. Swift gives listeners a glimpse into her friendship with the actor and even addresses recent engagement rumors in the song.
“All they keep asking me / Is if I’m gonna be your bride / The only kinda girl they see / Is a one-night or a wife,” she sings.
On the first song of her new album, “Midnights,” the pop sensation addressed the claims.
“I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say/ the 1950s s–t they want from me/ I just wanna stay in that lavender haze,” her lyrics read in the love song titled “Lavender Haze.” “All they keep asking me is if I’m gonna be your bride/ the only kinda girl they see is a one night or a wife.”

And she praises Alwyn for not taking part in the drama: “I find it dizzying / They’re bringing up my history / But you weren’t even listening.”
The Grammy winner revealed earlier this month that she first heard the term “lavender haze” on the television program “Mad Men” and that it simply describes being in love.

The pop artist revealed in an Instagram video earlier this month that her six-year romance with Alwyn served as the inspiration for “Lavender Haze.” She remarked at the time, “We’ve had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it”
she further added, “And so, this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”
The 32-year-old singer of “All Too Well” collaborated on a song called “Sweet Nothing” with her boyfriend, whose stage name is William Bowery.

“They said the end is coming/ Everyone’s up to something/ I find myself running home to your sweet nothings,” sings Swift.
“I spy with my little tired eye/ Tiny as a firefly a pebble that we picked up last July/ Down deep inside your pocket we almost forgot it/ Does it ever miss Wicklow sometimes?”
Later on, she sings, maybe alluding to the time she and Alwyn spent in Ireland last year while he was filming the Sally Rooney novel adaptation “Conversations With Friends.”
The Couple allegedly met at the 2016 Met Gala, but they didn’t begin a formal relationship until the following fall.
