Taylor Swift shares her nightmare experience while auditioning for Les Miserables movie in the year 2012. She appeared in “The Graham Norton Show” on Friday with Eddie Redmayne who is her favorite actor so far.
Taylor Swift had a conversation about her nightmare experience in an interview. On Friday, she showed her appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” because she just released her new album, ‘Midnights’. Not only her, but one of her favorite actors, Eddie Redmayne also appeared in the show. And, Taylor began talking about her experience while auditioning for the 2012 film, Les Miserables.
Similarly, Swift then shared that Redmayne was his favorite actor and she got a chance for having audition with him. However, she was very nervous too. At first, Taylor explained that she was there just for having a good time, not for the role. She stated,
“Basically, I was up for two roles … I had the look of Cosette and the range, vocally, of Eponine, so it was established I was there for a good time but not for a long time — I wasn’t going to get the role.”
Later, she was given chance to audition because they knew she really liked Eddie so they have better chemistry. Therefore, she was asked to go to London for an audition and Taylor said ‘Yes’. Also, Swift mentioned,
“I thought ‘This isn’t an experience I am going to get again in my life,’ so I said yes.”
Though, the whole thing turned into a nightmare for the singer because she was dressed in costume as Eponine, with rotten teeth, etc. The makers and other directors decided that she must be dressed in a “full 19th Century street urchin costume”. Meanwhile, they also told Swift to make her teeth brown for the audition.

Furthermore, she stated,
“I was like, ‘You are going to do that after I meet Eddie Redmayne right?’ … But no, they made me look like near death and it immediately became a nightmare for me.”
“I thought we would just be singing off each other — I didn’t know we would be in each other’s arms.”
“My overriding memory of it is that I had pizza and garlic dough balls beforehand and all I could think about was my garlic breath while Taylor was dying in my arms and I was trying to show emotion.”

After hearing Eddie’s embarrassing moment while auditioning, Swift stated,
“You were weeping and I thought it was because of how I looked. It’s nice to hear we were both struggling at that moment.”

Other members who were cast in the movie were, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russel Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen. Although Hooper mentioned that Taylor did well in the audition. But, he chose not to cast her in the movie because he thought the character wouldn’t fit with Taylor’s personality.
However, Hooper claimed to various sources that,
“She rather brilliantly auditioned for Éponine. I didn’t cast her, but I got very close to it. Ultimately, I couldn’t quite believe Taylor Swift was a girl people would overlook. So it didn’t quite feel right for her for the most flattering reason.”

“I knew she was curious to work on a musical. When [Cats] came up, I wrote to her and just said, ‘Would you like to meet? Would you like to see the world I’m creating?’ And I did a presentation. Eve Stewart had these wonderful paintings she did of the world. I had a ten-second clip of a dancer with fur, lifelike. That was my pitch. She loved it and was very gracious and really supportive from then on.”
