He scored his first professional goal on September 11, 2010, as the New York Red Bulls defeated the Colorado Rapids 3-1.

Ream helped New York win its second regular-season Eastern Conference championship by starting all 30 of the team’s matches in his debut season as a professional.

2011

Ream played and started in 28 of the 34 regular-season games during his second season in New York; he missed 6 games primarily due to international call-ups during the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

With permission from the Red Bulls, Ream briefly trained with West Bromwich Albion and Bolton Wanderers in December 2011 during the MLS off-season in order to keep up his fitness.

Beginning in January 2012, Bolton made a £2.5 million transfer bid for him. He acquired a work visa on January 24 after the bid was accepted and personal terms were agreed upon.

In their opening 2011 Gold Cup match, a 2-0 victory over Canada, Ream made his debut.

He also started the United State’s second game against Panama, which they lost 2-1 to suffer their first-ever Gold Cup group-stage defeat.

He fouled Blas Pérez in the 34th minute, which led to a penalty kick for Panama. Gabriel Gómez successfully converted the penalty, which ended up winning the game.

He was replaced by Eric Lichaj in the following game against Guadeloupe and did not participate in the 2011 Gold Cup’s remaining four games.

2012

Moreover, He was awarded Bolton’s player of the year for the second consecutive year.

2015

Ream was linked to a move to Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers before the 2015–16 season, and they made a bid for him. The offer, however, was turned down.

Ream was acquired by Fulham on August 20, 2015, and they later agreed to a four-year contract. He has the option to stay another year after the move for an unknown amount.
