Tim Sebastian is a journalist for television and an author. On Deutsche Welle, he moderates the Conflict Zone and The New Arab Debates. While working for the BBC, he had previously hosted HARDtalk and The Doha Debates.
Early Life and Education
Sebastian, a British citizen who is a natural speaker of both German and Russian, was born in London in 1952.
He completed his education at the independent, fee-based Westminster School in the center of London.
Tim also holds an Oxford University honors BA in modern languages. In 1974, he also graduated with a Diploma in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University.
Sebastian started out as a foreign correspondent by covering the Warsaw Solidarity uprising.

Tim, who received numerous awards, was a former BBC foreign news reporter in addition to being the show’s originator and debut host of the renowned interview program HARDtalk.
Sebastian spent more than seven years of his life working on the daily, half-hour interview shows HARDtalk on BBC World. Through this program, he established a great reputation for interviews.
Unsurprisingly, some visitors even opt not to take part in the program. However, a large percentage did, and the program was in place for seven years.
