In the end, The Washington Redskins won the championship in a landslide. Throughout the 1988 season, Bowles struggled to maintain consistent performance.

He arranges his contract with the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings. Nonetheless, he remained with the Redskins and appeared in 18 games for them.
