Travis Alan Pastrana is an American stunt driver and professional racing competitor. In supercross, motocross, freestyle motocross, and rally racing, he has won championships and X Games gold medals. He hosts the Nitro Circus program and the Nitro Rallycross rallycross racing series.

Robert and Debby Pastrana are also his parents. Travis’s father, who was of Puerto Rican origin, made a living in the military.

From the time he was a toddler, he was a smart student who consistently received high marks. He went to the University of Maryland after graduating from high school to further his education.

Professional Life and Career


Travis began performing stunts in motocross racing at the age of 13 and went on to pursue a career in Freestyle Motocross later in life.

He has won three motocross races: the AMA 125cc National Championship in 2000, the 15cc East Coast Supercross Championship in 2001, and the 125cc Rose Creek Invitational in 2002.

Pastrana also competed in the 2000 Motocross des Nations. He entered the Red Bull Straight Rythm Competition in 2014.

Puerto Rico (PR)

Travis’ father was of Puerto Rican origin, so he was immediately qualified to compete in international competitions for his motherland.

He was a member of Team Puerto Rico at the Motocross of Nations in 2018. After winning the B-final, Travis and his teammates qualified for the main event.

X Games

Travis won the first MotoX Freestyle competition at the 1999 X Games.

Between 2001 and 2004, he won four gold medals and became only the second rider in history to do a 360 in competition.

In the Freestyle event, he earned his sixth gold medal in 2005.

He also became the third athlete in X Games history to earn five gold medals in a single event, as well as the greatest score in the Best Trick competition.

Travis accomplished this in 2006, while also winning his sixth gold medal in FMX.

In 2010, he also won Moto X Freestyle and Moto X Speed & Style, upsetting silver medalist Nate Adams with another Double Backflip.

At the 2015 X Games Austin, Travis made his debut in the Stadium Super Trucks series, finishing last in the heat race and ninth in the final.


In 2011, Travis made his NASCAR debut in the Toyota All-Star Showdown.

His plans to compete in the 2011 National Wide Series were scrapped because of his injuries during the X-Games.

In 2012, Travis made his Nationwide Series debut in the Richmond 250, finishing 22nd.

In the same year, Pastrana competed in the Camping World Truck Series, finishing 15th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Travis also revealed that he will be quitting NASCAR at the end of the 2013 season owing to a lack of sponsorship, discontent with his performance, and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Pastrana returned in 2017 to participate in the Truck Series with Niece Motorsports in Las Vegas.

He returns to NASCAR in 2020, competing for Niece Motorsports for the first time in three years.


Travis began rallying in 2004 at the Race of Champions, driving for the Subaru-sponsored Vermont SportsCar rally squad.

In 2006, Travis won gold in the X Games’ first rally vehicle competition. Pastrana competed in the 2006 Race of Champions in Paris the same year.

He also participated in the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally, a round of the Scottish Rally Championship held in Scotland in September 2008.

Pastrana also competed in the 100 Acre Wood Rally and Rally America with Derek Ringer.

In 2007, 2008, and 2009, Pastrana also raced in World Rally Championship races.

Travis broke the previous world record of 171 feet and established a new global distance record of 269 feet in a ramp-to-ramp vehicle jump in 2010.

In September of that year, he achieved the world record for the fastest vehicle ascent of Mount Washington.

He also raced with AF Waltrip in the 24 Hours of Daytona, finishing 22nd in the GT class. Travis also competed in rally America in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2004 and 2005.

Games by Nitro World

Nitro world games were created in 2015 by Pastrana and Michael Porra, the CEO of Nitro Circus.

It was then officially announced in a 2016 event at Rice-Eccles Stadium, which was eventually relocated to the Utah Motorsports Campus in 2018.

The Nitro World Games are also an annual extreme sports competition that includes Freestyle Motocross, FMX Biggest Trick, BMX Best Trick, BMX Triple Jump, Skate Best Trick, Scooter Best Tricks, and Inline Best Tricks.

The stuntman has had a lengthy and difficult rehabilitation from numerous injuries and surgeries throughout his life. Here are just a few examples:
