Career in Rams

After his time with Redskins, Green signed a 4-year $17.5 million contract with the St. Louis Rams, which included a $4.5 million USD signing bonus.

However, Trent was injured in a preseason game and couldn’t get to play for the Rams that season.

Sadly, Trent was traded during the offseason to the Kansas City Chiefs for the 12th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.

A career in Kansas City

In his first season in Kansas City, Trent threw for 3,783 yards and 17 touchdowns and threw 24 interceptions. However, Trent improved his games in 2002, throwing 26 touchdowns to only 13 interceptions.

Also in 2002, Trent tied the record for the longest career pass play in the NFL history which was 99 yards long.

In 2003, Trent threw for 4,039 yards with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Similarly, Green passed for 4,591 yards, 17 interceptions, and 27 touchdowns, phenomenal play in 2004.

In 2005, Trent had a strong season where he threw for 4,010 yards and threw just ten interceptions.

At the end of 2006, Trent only played where Kansas lost against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs. Hence, Green’s career in Kansas City ended that year in 2006.

Back with Rams

After his release from the Dolphins, Trent agreed to a 3-year deal worth about $9 million with the St. Louis Rams.

In 2008, Green was named the starter for the game against Buffalo Bills. Trent completed 17 of 32 passes for 236 yards with one interception and an average quarterback rating of 64.1.

Retirement and Post-NFL Career

Trent Green retired from pro football on June 12, 2009. Green said he had an interest in broadcasting on TV after he retired from football.

In 2009, Green started working for the Fox network as a color analyst on regional NFL games. In addition to that, Green also worked as a studio analyst for the NFL Total Access show.

Furthermore, Trent also worked with Ian Eagle on the Thursday Night Football games show. Finally, Green was hired by CBS as an NFL analyst in April of 2014.

Back in 2007, when the Kansas City Chiefs traded quarterback Trent Green to the Miami Dolphins for a conditional fifth-round pick, where he suffered another severe concussion early in a game against the Texans in the first quarter.

Trent put his shoulder low to the knees of 315-pound Houston defensive tackle Travis Johnson in a successful try to block him from scoring.

Green was soon then carted off on a stretcher by medical personnel having Cleo Lemon stepped in to take his place. While Greens was expected to retire, surprisingly he came back for the practice sessions.
