Education
After graduating from Saint Louis High School, Tagovailoa enrolled at the University of Alabama in Honolulu to play football. In both the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Tua assisted the Crimson Tide in getting to the National Championship Game.
He was ranked as the best dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2017 and the 32nd-best player overall. Tua was chosen by the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft, but his season was cut short in 2019 due to a dislocated hip.
Although he plays left, the quarterback is right-handed. For his 2018 campaign, Tagovailoa also received a variety of honors and accolades, including the Maxwell and Walter Camp Awards and a spot on the Heisman Trophy finalist list.
