Tyrus Thomas was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on August 17th, 1986, to Willie Thomas and Jessica Thomas. Similarly, Other than their names, little information is known about Thomas’s parents.

Professional Career

On April 17th, 2006, Tyrus revealed his intention to join the 2006 NBA Draft. Similarly, All of Tyrus’s collegiate eligibility stats were erased as a free agent.

Furthermore, on June 28th, 2006, the Portland Trail Blazers selected Tyrus as the fourth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Further, Tyrus was eventually dealt to the Chicago Bulls by the Blazers in return for LaMarcus Aldridge, the second overall selection on draft night.

Chicago Bulls

Tyrus participated in 72 games with the Bulls as a rookie, making four starts.

Similarly, on March 22nd, 2006, he grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds and a game-winning 0.2-second tip-in while playing against the Denver Nuggets.

Later, on March 31st, 2006, Tyrus set a career-best with 27 points and eight rebounds against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In addition, Tyrus participated in the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest, becoming the first Chicago Bulls player to do so since Scottie Pippen in 1990.

Rest of the Seasons with Bulls

Charlotte Bobcats

Iowa Energy and Memphis Grizzlies

Tyrus was also acquired by Iowa Energy on January 13th, 2015, after being waived by the Charlotte Bobcats. Similarly, On January 22nd, 2015, Tyrus signed a 10-day deal with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies.

However, when the initial 10-day deal expired on February 1st, 2015, the Grizzlies did not offer a second 10-day contract. As a result, Tyrus returned to Iowa Energy after only two days.

Germany

Tyrus had little success in the NBA or the NBA Development League.

As a result, on September 4th, 2015, Tyrus chose to sign a one-year deal with the Eisbaren Bremerhaven.
