Where was Ugo Humbert born? Early Life and Parents

Ugo Humbert was born to Eric and Anne Humbert in Metz, France. As he grew up alongside his sister, Lea Humbert, he wasn’t only the youngster in the family.

When it comes to his family, his French parents and sisters are both butchers and caterers. They also own and operate a prominent business in Metz. He enjoyed tennis, but he was a die-hard football fan.

FC Metz is his favorite team, which comes as no surprise. We combed through all of the internet pages but found no new information on his education or early life. He did, however, learn tennis from his father.

His father used to play tennis and would pick up on all the little nuances. Tennis became a part of my life when I was five years old. He became interested in gripping the rackets and developed into a traditional lefty.

How did Ugo Humbert start his Professional Career?

Junior

When Ugo turned 12, he marched to Poitiers to train at the National Training Centre of the French Tennis Federation. Likewise, he maintained his training there, but due to injuries, he was unable to play for a year and a half.

Ugo had the opportunity to participate in the Abierto Juvenil Mexicano doubles final alongside tennis star Geoffrey Blancaneaux later in 2015. Thenceforth, he reached his highest junior rating of No. 18 in January 2016.

2017: First Futures title

Ugo won his first futures championship at Bagnères-de-Bigorre in September 2017, when he was recognized as a wild card entrant.

After a week off, he entered the Moselle Open as a wild card, reaching the second round but losing three sets to Simone Bolelli.

Furthermore, Ugo won his opening match against Thomas Fabbiano, a top 100 player with jersey number 73, at the 2017 Rolex Paris Masters. It was a qualifying match for the first round.

2018: Entering the top 100

On the ATP Challenger Tour, Ugo did not reach the level he had anticipated in the first half of the season. But, later in the summer, he had a breakout season, reaching three Challenger finals.

Ugo won his first Challenger championship in Segovia after losing the first two in Gatineau and Granby. Likewise, the game qualified him for the US Open qualification competition, where he qualified for the main draw for the first time.

In October, he won his second Challenger championship in Ortisei, defeating world number 55 Pierre-Hugues Herbert. In terms of himself, he reached a career-high of world No. 99.

2019: Wimbledon fourth round

Ugo began his 2019 season by qualifying for ATP 250 Brisbane, where he was defeated in the round of 32 by Yasutaka Uchiyama. He chose to play the ATP 250 Auckland the following week.

And it was then that he won the title by defeating Jannik Sinner, Herbert Hurkacz, and Benoit Paire.

He was also the first Frenchman to win this tournament, as well as the youngest Frenchman to win an ATP championship since Gasquet in 2007.

Ugo also put up the finest performance of his career, achieving his highest Grand Slam finish by reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2019. He beat compatriot Gael Monfils and Felix Auger-Aliassime, but lost to Novak Djokovic in the final.

2020-Present

Ugo’s career-high point came in the first round of the 2020 Hamburgh European Open when he defeated world no. 5, Daniil Medvedev.

Casper Ruud eventually beat him in the quarterfinals. Marc Polmans knocked him out of the French Open in the first round, as well.

Ugo met James Duckworth in the second round of the Murray River Open in 2021 but fell short.

Ugo fell against Aslan Karate in the opening round of the Madrid Open as well. He was also beaten in the first round in Rome by Jannik Sinner.
