Basketball player Victor Claver was born on August 30, 1988, in Valencia, Spain.

Victor Claver Arocas is his full name, but Victor Claver generally respects him. He is also of Spanish descent and is a devout Christian.

Claver was born to Spanish parents; the identity of his mother is still a mystery. His father was Paco Claver. Prior to becoming a coach, his father also coached and played handball.

Early Career

The youth teams of the Valencia Basketball Club in Spain helped basketball player Victor Claver grow. He debuted for Valencia during the 2006–07 season.

He did so throughout the 2011–12 season before re-signing with the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2012–13 season.

After joining the Blazers, he also played in a few games with the Idaho Stampede. He has only had the chance to play for one NBA franchise thus far, the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Denver Nuggets of the NBA immediately released him after he signed a contract with them. However, he spent three seasons playing with the Blazers before signing with an overseas team.

National Team Career

Victor Claver represented the Spanish Junior National team and captured a bronze medal at the FIBA Europe Under-18 Championships in 2006 and 2008, respectively.

Later, he participated in basketball matches for Spain’s men’s national team. He and the group won gold medals at EuroBasket 2009, EuroBasket 2011, and EuroBasket 2015.

Clave was thus able to take home a bronze medal from the 2013 EuroBasket.

He also participated in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the 2010 FIBA World Championship, and the 2012 Summer Olympics. He received a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Professional Career

With the Sagrado Corazón HH and Maristas Valencia young teams from his high school in Spain, Claver first took up basketball.

He consequently played his first game of basketball with Valencia in the 2006–2007 season.

Claver participated in his first game in the EuroCup, Europe’s second-tier level competition, in the 2007-2008 season, and he won the league in the 2009-2010 season.

In addition, he took part in the elite EuroLeague from 2010 to 2011, scoring 10.9 points and grabbing 4.9 rebounds throughout 14 games.

NBA Draft

Later, he was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers as the 22nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Then, in July 2012, Claver and the Blazers reached an agreement on a three-year contract.

Additionally, he played for the Utah Jazz’s NBA D-League affiliate Idaho Stampede for two days before the Utah Jazz summoned him back in December 2012. Until the Blazers brought him back, he was once more sent to Stampede.

He played in 80 games over the next three seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets. As a result, he was never given a chance to play and was eventually waived by the Nuggets.

Claver signed a contract with the Russian team BC Khimki in March 2015; their relationship ended in July of that same year.

He agreed to a contract with Baskonia in August 2015, but Valencia exercised its first refusal and disputed the proposal to keep him in Spain.

He signed a one-year contract with the Russian team Lokomotiv Kuban in September 2015.

Victor also signed a three-year deal with FC Barcelona Lassa in July 2016. He also extended his agreement with FC Barcelona until July 2022.

As a result, after five stays, he ended his relationship with the group in July 2021.

He also signed a second three-year contract with Valencia in July 2021, returning to play for his hometown team.
