Likewise, Chris saw Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith who was sitting in front in a green gown with a shaved head. He said,
“Jada, I love you, G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right?”
Moreover, after listening to this, Jada’s face went stony. In addition, Smith got to his feet, marched onto the stage, and slapped Chris Rock in the face.
Though the audio of the US broadcast went out at that point, it still continued uncensored in other countries, including Japan and Australia.
Replying to that slap, Rock said, “Wow! Wow! Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me, everybody.”
After that, “Keep my wife’s name out your fucking mouth,” Will Smith shouted from the audience.
“Wow, dude, It was a G.I. Jane joke”, Rock replied.
In addition, angrily Smith repeated,
“Keep my wife’s name out your fucking mouth”
“I’m going to. Okay?” Rock said.

In addition to that, he also mentioned a remark from his friend Denzel Washington which was shared during the break between the slap and acceptance speech.
He said, “Be careful at your highest moment… that’s when the devil comes for you.”

“I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment. And I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all the people.”
During the acceptance speech, he apologized to all the Academy attendees as well as the audience but he failed to mention the main victim of the incident.
